About Little Farmer Club & What's Involved
''I am passionate about knowing where my food has come from and try to grow as much as I can on the farm to add to my family dinners, sell in the farm tea barn to customers and at the farm markets.
I would like to share our farming knowledge and give children the opportunity to experience a little bit of life on our farm and get involved in as much of our daily activities as possible.''
I look forward to seeing you all for our new 2020 term
(farmher,Little Fant Farm)
The sessions are 2 hours, and will be farm related, where we will check and feed the animals, & collect eggs
We currently have Chickens, Ducks, Geese, Shetland Ponies, Pigs, and Sheep, so our Little Farmers are very busy!
There will be seed planting, growing vegetables, collecting chicken and duck eggs, helping in our Pumpkin Patch, picking berries from our hedgerow, growing plants to sell at our farm market and help run our farm market stall and Honesty Hut.
And make sure we are looking after our natural wildlife.
Make some lovely meals with food we have grown.
Once all the farm related tasks have been done there will be a craft activity, see if we have guests in our bug hotel, sow seeds, make Scare Crows and grow our gigantic pumpkin.
New to the farm and for Little Farmers only is our under cover mud kitchen.
The weather and season will of course dictate what we will be doing at each club and we will continue with our farm tasks in the rain, craft activities can be in our large under cover area if needed.
We will split the clubs into age groups so we can plan appropriate activities for the children. with small groups. Please bear in mind your children will be coming to a farm and the appropriate clothing must be worn, hard shoes or wellies, old clothes and waterproofs. Parents/Carers are also to help their child and get involved and all have a great time!
Winter/Spring term 2020 will be a block booking of £50 for our 5 week session
Unfortunately we are unable to refund any missed sessions or take them over to another term.
You are more than welcome to give sessions to Friends/family
If we are unable to grow or rear the farm animals for food ourselves then we try our very best to source food which is produced locally buying directly from the farmer for the FARM TO TABLE freshness, taste and quality.
The farm consists of Pear & Plum Orchards, Chickens, Ducks, Geese, Pigs (from Spring to late Autumn),
We have also adopted 2 Shetland Ponies, Pumpkin & Orlando from the Equine Rescue Charity, Pukka Ponies, based in East Farleigh, Maidstone.
We have 4 Acres of Pear Orchard, and we offer you the great opportunity of renting a Pear Tree of your own, details can found on our website
We take some of our Pears to the Juicers to make our Farm Pear Juice which we sell in our Tea Barn, offer PYO Pears at the end of September when the fruit is ready.
There is an acre of Plum trees, which give us delightful Plums in the Summer.
All our fruit is sprayed organically to help with pest control.
Our other farm fields have Wild Meadow Fields, which we cut for hay and provide a great area for the natural wildlife, along with 3 Acres of farm land to grow Pumpkins and open up over Halloween time for PYO Pumpkins.
Other events are held throughout the year and school holidays, please check our facebook events page or website for further details.
Entrance is off Farleigh Lane, Maidstone, ME16 9LU or the surrounding Public Footpaths.
We would like to politely ask you not to bring your Picnics onto the farm, thank you
Dogs are allowed on the farm, as long as they are kept on a very tight lead.
Please also see our frequently asked questions page, thank you.
